As Alan Boothroyd settled down for a well earned sleep last night he was happy in the knowledge that he had already run halfway up the United Kingdom.

The second half starts and our hero heads further north.

At the Huddersfield Town game on Saturday (Day 9) receiving a well deserved ovation from the Town fans

Put yourself in his running shoes. On Saturday he did a lap of honour at the home of his beloved Huddersfield Town. Treated to an ovation at the venue he views as the home of sport he emotionally raises his hand to acknowledge the crowd.

It’s a crowd that are just starting to understand the size of the task Alan Boothroyd has set himself. A crowd rightly proud that one of their own is doing something special.

Because as he ran from Huddersfield to Horsforth on a day where a reduced 28 miles to fit in the football was viewed as an easy ride, he still had 11 of the 20 day challenge stretching out ahead of him. He’s eating into the miles, but as he told me a couple of days ago, it’s only going to get tougher from hereon.

It’s a lonely life out there. Give him your support and donations.

He also told me that he only tweets the good bits. I asked him why? Surely telling everyone that this hurts like hell, is stretching him to the limit and only determination and years of pounding the pavements is seeing him through would encourage more donations. The simple truth is he’s not that kind of guy.

The twitter talk has been full of praise and encouragement. Yesterday @djshaw79 tweeted, “When I can’t be bothered to do something I think of you mate. Try keep running ’til September and I should have all my jobs done!”

And @lizcyclerunner tweeted, “I’m bushed after today’s half marathon!! That’s laughable really isn’t it !!!!” No Liz it’s by no means laughable, it’s just what Boob is doing is exceptional.

Spotted out on the run – remember you can earn yourself an Approved Food credit of you send a snap of Booby running to james@approvedfood.co.uk

Sometimes when the numbers are so big you forget what it all means. 50 miles a day for 20 consecutive days – that’s crazy in anyone’s language!!

On Sunday he ran the 43 miles from Horsforth to Leyburn as he began to edge out of his home county of Yorkshire.

Today (Monday) he is back on the streets from Leyburn to Penrith, another 50-plus mile slog.

A quick check of the www.justgiving.com/actionman-uk page this morning and the tally has broken five-figures over the weekend as people did deep to acknowledge what Alan is doing for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

His target is £50,000 so please do what you can to help him get there.
